A family of abandoned AI robots living among humans

How NOT to Build an AI Robot

Season 5 Episode 2

AI robots are grabbing headlines as they become a reality. So, what better subject to cover in this episode than the idea of an AI robot building an AI robot to help it?

When your favourite AI family are overwhelmed by life's chores, they do what any intelligent machine would: build an AI assistant so they can live their best robot lives. But things don't quite go to plan. Zero Zero One builds the Hybrid Autonomous Tastmaser Expert (HATE), an over-sensitive Frankenstein robot that habitually ruins everything it touches.

Production note:
Getting the lead character to sing would always be hit or miss. I sampled the original Men at Work track and then isolated the vocal track using AI. Next, I used the Eleven Labs Speech to Speech function. I made around twenty passes of the edit before editing several takes together to make the final edit.

How NOT to Build an AI Robot is one of those episodes in which I let AI assist with every stage of the production (which is ironic given the title of the episode), from initial ideas and plot lines to voicing all the characters you hear in the podcast: the production of this episode is a strange mirror of the show theme! So, grab your headphones and enjoy an episode that was as bonkers to construct as it is to listen to.
